Cinq a Sept did it’s own thing this season – departing from the traditional runway show (and the below 14th street address) – they created an elegant afternoon tea setting in a small ballroom uptown, inside the classic Pierre hotel. It was here that the strongest collection we’ve seen yet from this french inspired brand routinely circled the room, even ending in a bit of a dance, which is what this editor was looking to do after seeing their stunning pieces for AW18.
This season, Jane Siskin was inspired, in a way, by time. A time when everything moved at a slower pace, where exchanges were written rather than typed and applied this mindful way of life into a romantic, feminine and modern collection. To start, there was their token standout outerwear, from multi-ribbon jacquard coats and a mustard velvet robe to lapis corduroy and military twill jackets. Other strong looks came from the balance of hard and soft or punches of color, for instance, an oversized butterscotch cashmere sweater with embellished arm warmers paired with a pewter sequin skirt.
